Several mosses native to coastal lowlands of north Queensland and northern New South Wales fall under this group, such as Dawsonia longiseta and Dawsonia polytrichoides as well as leafy liverworts such as Spruceanthus thozetianus and Telaranea verruculosa.

Rosulabryum queenslandicum can be found both along the coastal lowlands near Townsville and three sites near Irvinebank on the Atherton Tableland. It appears to be closely related to Microbryum brevicaule and Tortula willissiana; however it remains uncertain whether Rosulabryum queenslandicum should be included within them or not.

Queensland is home to 25 mosses that are unique. Of those, some are highly restricted in their distribution; Anthoceros capricornii can only be found at certain spots in north Queensland and northern Western Australia, rather than being more widely found such as Dawsonia species or leafy liverworts such as Spruceanthus thozetianus and Thysananthus australis.
