Home Care Packages

Home care packages provide government funding that you can use to purchase various services and supports that enable you to remain independent at home, such as personal care, domestic assistance, transport, social support services, community participation activities, home modification/assistive equipment purchases/rentals and respite care.

Home care package funding options consist of four levels and will be assessed to find out which best meets your needs. When choosing a provider, ensure they are accredited by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission and offer genuine self-management options. Also important is making sure they offer care that fits with what is necessary and that their staff have experience tailoring services specifically to you.

Next Step After Care

Queensland sees approximately 500 young people exit statutory care each year, many of whom face an increasingly challenging transition to adulthood as a result of instability, limited natural support networks and past trauma.

The Palaszczuk Government is working towards improving aftercare services for Queensland young adults. A range of new initiatives has been undertaken as part of a strengthened Next Step Plus program, including an expanded EPCS service which will offer them additional assistance in housing, education and employment.

New services are being implemented to assist young people in various ways, such as helping them find and secure safe, affordable housing, reconnect with their safety networks and culture/community, apply for jobs or training and attend appointments to address health needs. A joint agency protocol to reduce preventable police call-outs to residential care services has also been instituted so as to avoid the criminalisation of children and young adults.

Out of Home Care

Life Without Barriers offers out-of-home care services including foster care and community based programs for children and young people. Working closely with families, the organization offers quality and safe care services.
