Venues

2032 will see world-class venues bring people from Queensland and throughout Australia together, celebrating sports’ ability to bring people together while creating an enjoyment for sport. New and upgraded facilities will be constructed according to community-centric principles so they continue to serve local needs even after the Games have concluded.

Victoria Park Stadium will be one of the stars of Brisbane during the Olympics, serving as host for ceremonies and athletics events before becoming home ground of domestic Australian rules and cricket teams like Brisbane Lions and Queensland Bulls, plus women’s Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat.

Toowoomba Showgrounds will be transformed into an Olympic Equestrian Centre of Excellence, showcasing inland Queensland’s strong regional capability and long-held traditions in agriculture, horsemanship and equestrianism. After the Games have concluded, this new facility will continue operating as an exceptional equestrian and rural event space.

Accommodation

Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a monumental task, from building new stadiums to improving public transport systems. Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games provide Queensland an unmissable chance to showcase itself globally while reaping long-term benefits from hosting this mega event.

The three proposed Olympic villages will serve as homes away from homes for athletes and team officials during competition. Conceived as long-term accommodation solutions, these Olympic villages will revive Hamilton Northshore and Southbank while simultaneously creating new links through to CBD competition venues.

Transport

Host cities of major sporting events typically must upgrade or build infrastructure to support such an event, and Brisbane will no doubt need to improve roads, public transportation systems and more in order to accommodate the large influx of attendees at the 2032 Games.

The 2032 Delivery Plan includes new and upgraded sports facilities for grassroots and high-performance athletes in Queensland, creating a lasting legacy for generations of Queenslanders. It also accelerates key regional infrastructure upgrades – such as connecting Brisbane to Rockhampton more directly or improving Cairns Western Arterial Road – which provide significant value.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Premier Steven Miles have jointly proposed expanding Brisbane Metro bus rapid transit system in time for the Olympic Games, with proposals from Lord Mayor Schrinner and Premier Steven Miles asking both federal and state governments to finance a business case for expansion. This expansion would extend bus service into areas like Springwood, Capalaba and Carseldine to help reduce traffic congestion by decreasing car ownership on streets and decreasing congestion caused by overly full streets.
