The 2032 Summer Olympics will be held in Brisbane, Australia. Officially known as the Games of the XXXV Olympiad, the event is scheduled to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2032. It will feature events such as cycling, gymnastics, and swimming.

The IOC granted Brisbane the exclusive bidding rights for the Games. The city was confirmed as the next host by IOC members in a 72-5 vote. The move came as part of a new bidding process that was introduced to reduce costs, avoid controversy, and reduce the risk of vote buying. It also addressed the lack of serious contenders for the Games. Other countries, including Germany, India, and Indonesia, had also expressed interest in hosting the Games.

While the IOC has a history of failing to decide on where to host the Olympics, the bid has been received well in Australia. However, there are still some concerns. The cost of the games has soared to $20 billion – far more than the originally estimated $13 billion. The IOC’s decision is expected around 6pm AEST. A large portion of the cost of the Brisbane Olympics will be generated from domestic sponsorship and ticket sales.

The 2032 Olympics will be Australia’s third Summer Olympic Games after Sydney in 2000. The Sydney Olympics were Australia’s most successful and are considered one of the most successful ever held. In contrast, the United States first hosted the Olympic Games in St. Louis in 1904. Los Angeles was the next city to host the Games in 1984 and Atlanta in 1996. In 2028, the Games will return to Los Angeles.

A master plan for the 2032 Olympics includes three main hubs on the south-east corner of the state. The three hubs will house 28 sports venues, with 21 venues in Brisbane and seven on the Gold Coast. The city will also host preliminary football games. The closing ceremony and opening ceremony will be held at the city’s Gabba stadium, which is set to undergo a $1 billion revamp. Its capacity will increase from the current 20,000 to 50,000 people.

The Brisbane organizing committee is composed of skeleton staff but hopes to appoint a full-time chief executive officer by the end of the year. The city is already home to the Commonwealth Games and has a strong sporting tradition. This is a great opportunity for Brisbane to leverage its previous experiences in hosting the games.

The 2032 Summer Olympics will take place in Brisbane, Australia. Officially known as the Games of the XXXV Olympiad, the event will take place between 23 July and 8 August 2032. Australia has hosted the Olympics twice before, in 1956 and 2000.
