Brisbane Roar FC
Brisbane Roar FC are a professional Australian football club playing in the Hyundai A-League based out of Brisbane in Queensland Australia.
The club will soon move to a new facility called the CoE that should address their facilities issues and house all teams and administration.

Origins
Brisbane City FC, established in 1953, is a professional football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and competes in the Australian A-League under license from Football Federation Australia. They hold back-to-back A-League Championship titles.
The Queensland Roar gets its name from the “roar” sound heard at Suncorp Stadium, its home stadium. Established by Dutch immigrants as Hollandia-Inala in 1957, later becoming Brisbane Lions before eventually changing to become Queensland Roar when Football Federation Australia mandated non-ethnic names for clubs.
John Aloisi resigned as manager of Brisbane Roar on 28 December, following an underwhelming start to the season. Interim manager Darren Davies was appointed for just one game – an ANZAC Day draw against Central Coast Mariners at Perry Park – as interim manager.
Current status
Bakrie Group of Indonesia acquired Brisbane Roar in 2011, and currently owns 100%. They have pledged their long-term support to both the club and football community of Brisbane.
Under Ange Postecoglou’s management in 2012, Roar set an all-time national record by winning 36 Hyundai A-League matches without loss and qualified for the inaugural Asian Champions League tournament, pitting some of Asia’s finest against some of Australia’s premier sides.
Roar made their move from Ballymore training facility in Brisbane to Logan Metro Sports Park for administration and training purposes during mid-2017, spending $9 Million. While still using Ballymore for some A-League matches and practice sessions at Ballymore for training sessions as well as hosting some matches there, alternative venues for Roar training sessions include A.J. Kelly Park, Cbus Stadium Perry Park as well as Suncorp Stadium itself for A-League fixtures and training.
History
Brisbane Roar have amassed five top-flight titles. Their first championship came in 2011 when they defeated FC Central Coast Mariners on penalties in the Grand Final series and promptly went on to defend it the next year.
Miron Bleiberg was appointed manager on 2 March 2005 but his tenure would soon come to an abrupt end after an inauspicious start that included a 1-1 home draw against Central Coast Mariners in front of over 15,000 fans. Former Australian national team coach Frank Farina would replace Bleiberg.
Farina led the club through a mini-revival and qualified them for finals in 2008-09; unfortunately they lost in an emotional preliminary final against Newcastle Jets. Furthermore, Farina lead them back into AFC Champions League competition for another run at glory.
Stadiums
Brisbane Roar are unique among A-League clubs by possessing multiple facilities; their men’s team plays at Suncorp Stadium while W-League and NPL teams compete at different venues around Brisbane.
Some Roar fans will welcome the move away from Suncorp Stadium as it means shorter travel and reduced stress levels; others, however, may feel saddened that their team has left its spiritual home behind.
Cbus Stadium at Bowen Hills with a capacity of 10,000 is also used by the club for some games, while construction of their new ‘McLean Stand’ as part of Ballymore Stadium’s redevelopment is due for completion this year; increasing capacity to 15,000 while creating a boutique rectangular stadium.
Sponsorship
Brisbane Roar have secured numerous sponsorship partnerships during their history. Of particular note is Toyota, who signed on as principal and front-of-shirt sponsor in 2023. Toyota made their presence felt with an innovative social media campaign featuring training photos with an “ice” filter to mark their commitment.
Brisbane Roar enjoyed a truly incredible season under manager Ange Postecoglou in 2012-13, winning both the Premier’s Plate and an A-League Grand Final appearance before an astonishing 50,344 crowd at Suncorp Stadium – both records for them!
Ausenco, a global engineering, consulting, and project management company with strong ties to Australia is currently sponsoring the club and has shown significant support in supporting female athlete development as well as offering teamwork, leadership development workshops for Liberty A-League squad.
