Brisbane City FC was established in 1952 as an Australian semi-professional soccer club. Competing in the NPL QLD league and located in Newmarket – an inner suburb of Brisbane in Queensland.

Origins

Brisbane City Football Club was established in 1952 by a group of Italian migrants, known as Gli Azzurri. One of the early teams to compete in the National Soccer League and win both Phillips Cup titles (1977 & 1978). Since its foundation, Brisbane City has established an extensive history of success throughout Queensland soccer renowned for their attacking style of play.

This season, the club has excelled in Queensland NPL table. Their home form is excellent; they won three consecutive matches at home with ease and scored six goals over their past two games – an excellent result that means they’re well on their way towards meeting their season goals – currently ranking number one junior development club in Queensland! Furthermore, a program has been put in place to expand and restore facilities with an aim of becoming one of Australia’s premier clubs.

History

Brisbane City FC, founded in 1952 and competing in National Premier Leagues Queensland since then. They currently enjoy great success in state competition.

Brisbane City became the inaugural Queensland-based professional sports team to participate in national competition through Philips League in 1977, winning its inaugural title against Marconi FC and Adelaide City as well as opening their $1 Million stand and headquarters at Spencer Park – still their home today.

Brisbane City had their best season ever in 1982 when they finished third place in the National Soccer League (NSL) and earned promotion to Queensland State League for two consecutive seasons. Unfortunately, due to restructuring of the NSL in 1986 and reduced Conference participation relegating Brisbane City along with city rivals Brisbane Lions to state competition.

Supporters Club

Brisbane City FC’s Supporters Club creates an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere at their home games and are an integral part of the club. In addition, they participate in social functions outside of matches as part of being members of Football Queensland Premier League with Spencer Park serving as their home ground.

Brisbane Club was the inaugural Brisbane-based professional sporting team to enter a national competition when they joined Philips League in 1977, winning national titles against Marconi and then Adelaide City before making another breakthrough win against Marconi two years later in 1979.

The club began experimenting with other football codes, before returning to Australian rules in 1879 and becoming one of the most successful teams in Queensland over time. Renowned for their red and black hoops – known as Invincible Reds by competition officials – they quickly become dominant over their competition while enjoying an intense rivalry with Ipswich FC.
